Every line has a train that isn't on the timetable. It comes when the platform is emptiest, windows fogged from the inside, faces pressed to the glass that do not move. Conductors are taught one rule: if a train you did not expect pulls in, do not board, and do not count the passengers. They will wait for you to reach the same number twice.
