The Wishing Well

1 min read

The village well granted wishes for the price of a coin. The wishes always came true, and always wrong — the woman who wished her husband home got him back drowned, the man who wished for gold inherited it at a funeral. They capped the well in stone. On still nights you can still hear coins dropping, far down, and a small voice thanking each one.
